About the Owner

Lorrent Smith is owner and founder of Design Smith Creative. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1994. After taking some post-graduate courses in graphic design, his professional design career began in 1998 as a Publications Designer for Battelle Centers for Public Health Research and Evaluation in Arlington, Virginia. He was responsible for the creation and production of presentation and printed materials from brochures to business proposals.

In 2000, Smith became the Graphic Designer for Bernan Press in Lanham, Maryland. He became proficient in book layout and cover design and worked with print vendors, authors, and editors to ensure that Bernan’s books were accurate, attractive, and published on-schedule.

Smith became Publications Manager at Prince George’s Community College in 2002.
He managed a staff of three designers and provided art-direction, oversight of production processes, and coordination with outside vendors. He earned a reputation amongst the vast college staff as “the consummate professional.”

Smith began freelancing in 2000 and has continued to build long-lasting relationships with his clients. In 2004 he moved to San Antonio, Texas and established Design Smith Creative.
